PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

Your reading and personal notes stay on your device. Online AI questions use your account. This policy explains that distinction, optional permissions, purchases, and your choices.

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Quran Lane ("Quran Lane," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Vibeler Inc., a company based in Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Quran Lane mobile application (the "App") and the qurancompanion.app website (together, the "Service"), how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other privacy laws that apply to you.

1. Information Stored on Your Device and Collected Online

You can read the Quran and keep private notes without an account. The current App separates local reading and worship data from optional online account features.

  • Local reading and worship data: bookmarks, notes, journal entries, collections, reading position, plan progress, saved study copies, dhikr counts and custom phrases, prayer and fasting logs, zakat figures and payment records, appearance, languages, translations, and reminder preferences are stored on your device. Your optional display name and chosen prayer location also stay there. Signing in does not upload this data. Operating-system device backups may include it.
  • Location and compass: choose a city, enter coordinates, or explicitly choose GPS. Coordinates and timezone are used locally for prayer calculations, Qibla, and Ramadan tools. Compass access is optional. The App does not send your prayer location to our app server. Opening an external map sends your search or selected location to the map service.
  • Accounts: email magic-link sign-in sends your email and account information to our backend and email delivery provider. We store account identifiers and authentication records. Earlier linked account identities and cloud content may exist for people who used previous versions; importing earlier account data is a separate action.
  • Online AI requests: selected ayah references, study mode and explanation language, chat questions, recent conversation context, returned answers, sources, request status, and usage allowances are processed and stored with your online account.
  • Store transactions: transaction and product identifiers, receipts or purchase tokens, store-account association, dates, and entitlement status are used to verify and restore access. Apple and Google process payments; we do not receive your full payment-card details.
  • Network and support data: ordinary request information such as IP address, security and operational logs, and information you choose to email support. Playing recitation contacts EveryAyah and reveals ordinary network information and the audio requested to that service.

The current App does not include advertising or analytics SDKs and does not register remote push-notification tokens. This website loads fonts from Google Fonts and is served by hosting providers, which receive ordinary network requests; we do not add advertising trackers to the static pages.

2. How We Use Information

On your device, local data lets you resume reading, save notes and collections, record your own worship, calculate prayer times, personalize appearance, prepare widgets, and schedule reminders. Our backend uses online account data to authenticate you, deliver AI responses and their history, verify purchases, enforce allowances, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, provide support, and meet legal or accounting obligations.

Exporting a backup creates a file that includes your private notes, preferences, progress, and selected coordinates. The App shares it only through the destination you choose. Import merges supported data on the device. There is no automatic cloud sync of your current local reading data.

We rely on applicable consent and other lawful requirements for the processing described here. You can choose not to use online AI, location, speech, maps, sharing, or reminders. Withdrawing information needed for a feature may prevent that feature from working; free local reading remains available.

3. AI Features and Your Content

Included editorial explanations and reflections are bundled content. Reading them does not send a new AI request. When you request personal AI study, the selected ayah reference, study mode, and explanation language are sent to our backend. Chat sends your question, selected passage context when present, and recent conversation. Our backend retrieves source material and sends the relevant context to OpenRouter and the model providers routed through it.

Requests, answers, source citations, and conversations are stored with your account for history and request recovery. Delete a conversation from Ask, or delete your online account from account settings. A study copy you choose to save for offline use remains on your device. Your local notes, journal, prayer location, and worship logs are not automatically uploaded with a question.

We do not sell private content, use it for advertising profiles, or train our own AI models on it. Third-party AI providers process content under their own terms. Avoid submitting confidential details about yourself or other people. AI can make mistakes and is not a substitute for a qualified scholar, professional advice, or emergency support.

4. Sensitive Faith Reflections and Safety

Your Quran Lane use may reveal personal religious interests, emotional state, repentance concerns, prayer needs, family or life questions, and other sensitive reflections. We treat that information as sensitive in product design: online Ask is account-owned, and journal and saved reading data are local to your device, and we do not use private religious reflections for advertising.

The App may label or route certain messages when safety-sensitive themes are detected, and may respond with encouragement to seek immediate help from qualified people or local emergency resources. These checks are automated and are not monitored by a person in real time.

Quran Lane is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself, or believe someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or qualified crisis support right away. Any automated safety response may not detect every situation and is not a substitute for professional or emergency help.

5. What We Don't Do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not serve third-party advertising in the App.
  • We do not use your private religious reflections, Ask messages, journal entries, saved notes, or duas to target you with ads.
  • We do not share your private Ask conversations, journal entries, or saved items with other users by default.
  • We do not use your content to train our own AI models.
  • We do not generate or imitate Arabic Quran recitation.

6. How We Share Information

Local notes and worship records are not sent to our app server. Online features share the information needed for their operation:

  • Infrastructure and email: hosting and database infrastructure, including DigitalOcean, and transactional email delivery, including Twilio SendGrid, process account, operational, and support data needed to run the Service.
  • AI providers: OpenRouter and routed model providers receive the question, passage and source context needed to generate the response you requested.
  • App stores: Apple and Google handle purchases under their own terms and provide the records used to verify entitlement.
  • Actions you choose: EveryAyah receives audio requests; external maps receive the searches you open; share sheets and backup destinations receive the content you choose to share. Device speech, photos, notifications, and OS backups operate under your device settings. Website hosting and Google Fonts receive ordinary network requests.
  • Legal and safety: information may be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people, the Service, or legal rights.
  • Business transfers: if Vibeler Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

7. Where Your Data Is Processed

Vibeler Inc. is based in Ontario, Canada. Your information may be stored and processed in Canada, the United States, and other countries where we or our service providers operate. When personal information is handled outside your home jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of those countries, including lawful access by courts and government authorities. We take contractual and organizational steps intended to give your information a comparable level of protection wherever it is processed.

8. Retention and Deletion

Local reading data stays on the device until you remove it, remove the App, or otherwise clear its storage; OS backup and restore behavior may retain copies. Export a backup before changing phones or uninstalling. You control exported files and the services to which you save them. Subscription expiry does not erase notes, saved studies, progress, or worship history.

Online requests and conversation history stay associated with your account until removed through the available controls or account deletion, subject to necessary retention. In Ask, delete an individual conversation. In Settings → Your account → Delete my account, confirm deletion to remove your online identity, conversations, AI requests, and earlier cloud notes and bookmarks. This does not erase local device notes or exported files. Minimal billing records are retained to protect purchase ownership; limited records may also be retained where required for legal, accounting, security, backup, or dispute purposes.

For deletion assistance, email [email protected]. We delete or anonymize retained personal information when it is no longer needed.

Account deletion does not cancel a store subscription. Cancel through your Apple or Google subscription settings if you no longer want it to renew.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Delete your account or associated personal information;
  • Withdraw consent to our use of your information, on a going-forward basis; and
  • Ask questions about how your information is handled, or file a complaint.

Many preferences can be updated in the App. For access, correction, deletion, withdrawal, or other privacy requests, email us at [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject line and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, California, or another place with its own privacy law, you may have additional rights under those laws — contact us and we will honor the rights that apply to you.

If you are in Canada and are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. Access tokens are stored on your device using encrypted device storage where supported, connections are protected in transit, production-system access is restricted to authorized personnel, and media links may be access-controlled or time-limited. Some operational logs may include limited identifiers, such as an email address or account identifier, for troubleshooting sign-in, delivery, and abuse prevention. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using measures appropriate to its sensitivity.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without appropriate consent, contact us at [email protected] and we will review and delete it where required. In some jurisdictions the minimum age of digital consent is higher; where that applies, you must meet the minimum age in your location.

12. Local Reminders and Permissions

Prayer and reading reminders are scheduled locally on your device, with permission, rather than sent through a remote push service. Prayer reminders cover the next seven days and refresh when the App opens. Delivery depends on device notification and battery settings. You can change reminders and quiet hours in the App, or disable notifications in device settings.

GPS is requested when you choose Use current location, and compass access is optional. Save image requests photo-library access when needed. The App does not request microphone access for recitation or reflection playback. You can use manual location entry and keep reading without these permissions.

13. App-Store Purchases

Apple and Google process app-store purchases under their own privacy policies. We receive purchase, receipt, entitlement, product, status, and date information needed to verify access, restore purchases, handle entitlement changes, and support subscription-related issues. We do not receive your full payment-card details from Apple or Google.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you through the App, by email, or by other reasonable means where required. The "Last updated" date above shows when this version took effect. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.

15. Contact Us

Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy can be sent to [email protected].
