QURAN LANE FAQ
Questions before you begin.
What you can read, what works offline, how study and recitation differ, and what happens to your data.
THE SHORT VERSION
Read. Understand. Return.
A complete Quran reader, help to understand each ayah, and tools for daily worship. Reading and prayer essentials stay free; Plus adds the full study library and advanced tools.
What can I do with Quran Lane?+
Read all 114 surahs with Arabic and your chosen translation, listen to recorded recitation, and return to your last ayah. Go further with explanations, word study, sourced readings, and guided plans. Prayer times, Qibla, reminders, and dhikr help you make room for worship through the day.
What stays free?+
The complete offline Arabic Quran and your choice of 19 translations; search, bookmarks, personal notes, and backup export; today’s complete explanation and reflection; today’s prayer clock and timetable, Qibla, all five basic prayer reminders, and dhikr. Reading does not require an account. The public website library is also free.
What does Plus include?+
The complete offline explanation and study library, word study, related ayahs, translation comparison, curated Discover readings, 34 guided plans, design packs, future prayer timetables, prayer tracking, Ramadan tools, and premium widgets. Personal AI study and chat include up to 200 new answers per day, shared across both features, and require an account and internet.
Can I use it offline?+
All 6,236 ayahs and the 19 translations are bundled for offline reading. Plus includes the offline study and curated reading libraries. Paid offline access lasts until subscription expiry or seven days after the last verification, whichever comes first; reconnect to refresh it. New AI answers need internet. Recitation needs internet to load and may remain in the device cache; it is not a complete offline audio download.
Is the recitation AI-generated?+
No. The reader plays recordings by Mishary Rashid Alafasy from EveryAyah. Separately, Listen & reflect uses your device’s synthetic voice to read editorial reflections in English or Arabic. These are distinct experiences. Device voice availability and offline speech support vary by device.
Which languages can I use?+
The app interface supports English and Arabic, including right-to-left navigation. Choose from 19 complete translations across 17 languages. Explanations are available in English and Arabic independently of your Quran translation. Published word-by-word meanings are in English, with Arabic and English grammar notes.
Where do the explanations come from?+
Arabic Quran text is from Tanzil. Translated meanings retain their named translators and source credits. The app’s editorial explanations are AI-assisted and automatically reviewed, not human-authored tafsir. Study also presents published Arabic Tafsir Al-Muyassar and As-Siraj notes separately, and word study identifies the Quranic Arabic Corpus. AI can make mistakes; read the sources and consult a qualified scholar for rulings.
Are my notes and reading history private?+
Bookmarks, notes, journal entries, collections, plan progress, prayer location, worship logs, and preferences stay on your device. Signing in does not upload them. Export a backup before changing phones or removing the app; automatic cloud sync is not included. Online AI requests and conversations are stored in your account and processed through our backend and configured AI providers. See our Privacy Policy.
How do prayer times and reminders work?+
Choose a city, enter coordinates, or optionally use GPS. Prayer times and Qibla are calculated on the device, with a choice of method, Asr convention, and minute adjustments. Check them against your mosque’s timetable. Prayer reminders use the device’s notification tone, not a full-length adhan. They cover the next seven days and refresh when you open the app; delivery depends on device settings.
What can I put on my home screen?+
Daily Ayah and Continue Reading widgets are free. Plus adds Prayer Times, Daily Dua, a Name of Allah, Words of Wisdom, Hadith Qudsi, and Ramadan widgets, with appearance options. Home-screen widgets are implemented for iPhone and Android; iPhone also supports selected lock-screen formats. Layouts depend on your device and widget size.
How do subscriptions and cancellation work?+
Weekly and yearly plans unlock the same Plus features. US reference prices are $4.99 per week and $69.99 per year. Your App Store or Google Play confirmation shows local pricing and taxes. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in the store; no free trial is included. Notes, saved studies, and existing history remain accessible after Plus expires. Deleting an account does not cancel a store subscription.
Can I delete my account?+
Yes. In the app, open Settings → Your account → Delete my account. This deletes your online identity, conversations, AI requests, and earlier cloud content. Minimal billing records are retained to protect purchase ownership. Device notes and exported backups remain under your control. You can also contact [email protected] for help.
